What is manuel bonilla?

Manuel Bonilla was a Honduran politician and military officer who served as the President of Honduras on two separate occasions. He was born on December 11, 1851, in the town of La Lima, Honduras. Bonilla initially studied law at the National Autonomous University of Honduras, but later joined the military and rose to the rank of General.

Bonilla first became President of Honduras in 1903, following a military coup that ousted the incumbent president. He served for two years before being overthrown in another coup. Bonilla then went into exile in El Salvador and Nicaragua before returning to Honduras in 1911.

In 1912, Bonilla was once again elected as President of Honduras, serving until 1913. During his second term, he implemented various reforms, including infrastructure projects, educational initiatives, and improvements to the country's healthcare system.

After leaving office, Bonilla remained active in Honduran politics and continued to be involved in various military and government affairs. He passed away on March 21, 1913, in the city of Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Bonilla is remembered as a significant figure in the history of Honduras and is often seen as a controversial figure due to his involvement in military coups and authoritarian rule during his presidencies.
